WRITING

Picture
STREET-POETRY
Series of poems written by strangers in lines and crowds from weddings, protests, vigils, parties, movies, plays, etc. These poems are collected and compiled with a modified “exquisite corpse” technique, invented by surrealists in the 1920’s, similar to an old parlor game called Consequences in which players write in turn on a sheet of paper, fold it to conceal part of the writing, and then pass it to the next player for a further contribution. Claudia Alick wanders the crowd with a notebook and invites everyone to write a line. Each contributor sees the line above theirs but not the entire poem. The result is a hugely collaborative poetic reflection of the people and the space.
